Cold Beans and ‘Taters

About half-way down the drive leading into my grandfather’s farm stood a small wooden shack that was always surrounded by a bunch of small yappy terrier dogs.  The people who lived there were always referred to as “Cold Beans and Taters,” because that’s what they ate every night for dinner.  Anyone visiting there would have dogs jumping all over them, followed by a serious case of the “itchies” from the dog’s fleas.
